Orioles Blow Late Inning Lead for 5th Loss in a Row

Everything was looking good for the Baltimore Orioles going into the bottom of the 8th with a 2 to 0 lead against the Mariners. It looked as though Jeremy Guthrie might get his first complete game shutout tonight but things changed fast. Luke Scott fielded a grounder to first base and made a wild throw to Guthrie on what should have been a routine third out to end the inning. Guthrie then gave up a single and then a 3 run homer to give the Mariners a 3 to 2 lead going into the 9th inning. Luke Scott played horribly by the way. Poor Guthrie, I really felt sorry for him after pitching so well.

Final Score: Orioles 2 Mariners 3

Orioles Have Lost 4 Straight

The last four games have been the worst stretch for the Baltimore Orioles since the eight game losing streak earlier in the season. It started with a blown six run lead against the Boston Red Sox. The New York Yankees then came to town and swept a 2 game series. The second game of the series wasn't even competitive as they pounded the Orioles 13-2. Yesterday, may have been the most embarassing loss of the season for the Orioles when they got pounded 17-5 by the Washington Nationals.

The Orioles will face the Washington Nationals again today and will try to end this losing streak. Jeremy Guthrie will be the starting pitcher and the Orioles will need a good outing to say the least!
